What's in the parks Master plan?

This research is conducted through interviews with community members and city staff, household surveys, public workshops, online forums, geo-spatial analysis, and using US Census data.  The City of Dallas’s Parks Board, composed of Dallas residents, provides leadership in community engagement as well as ideas and feedback throughout the planning process.  
At the end of the process the City of Dallas will have a Parks Master Plan document and interactive website, both of which will be accessible to the public.  Both of these sources will describe the City’s park system vision and include the following items:
  • Inventory of existing parks and recreation facilities; 
  • Vision statement, goals, and recommendations for system-level and park-specific improvements;
  • Parkland acquisition strategy that identifies the amount of land needed for the next 20 years and describes strategies for acquiring lands;
  • Conceptual design for the continued development of Kingsborough Park;
  • Evaluation of funding options and a suggested funding strategy.
