The vision statement and goals for the 2015 Dallas Parks Master Plan were developed through a series of Parks Board meetings, community
workshops, and conversations with City staff. These resolutions provide guidance for the development and improvement of Dallas's park system during the next 20 years.
VISION STATEMENT The City of Dallas provides a well-maintained parks and trails system PARK SYSTEM GOALS Nine goals for the 2015 Dallas Parks Master Plan emerged during the planning process. These goals represent the desired outcomes of Dallas residents for their park system. Associated action items and additional recommendations for each goal will be presented on the following pages.
GOAL 1 - FUTURE PARKLAND IDENTIFICATIONIdentify areas within the urban growth boundary for strategic expansion of the Dallas park system.
Goal 2 - branding
Establish a recognizable identity across the Dallas park system.
Goal 3 - security
Improve safety in Dallas parks and immediate surroundings.
Goal 4 - maintenance
Ensure all parks are properly maintained to guarantee safe, clean conditions for all users.
Goal 5 - natural areas
Promote and enhance natural areas to allow access and protect ecosystems.
Goal 6 - programming
Create a park system that provides opportunities for a variety of ages, abilities, and interests.
Goal 7 - connectivity
Increase connectivity for biking, walking, and running throughout the trail system.
Goal 8 - community engagement
Facilitate the establishment of a non-profit “Friends of Dallas City Parks” organization to help care for the parks system through volunteers to help with maintenance, advocacy, and fundraising efforts.
Goal 9 - funding
Identify long-term funding sources for the maintenance and expansion of the Dallas park system.
